Sedona
This painting is titled Sedona, an abstract piece featuring rich, textured layers of red and orange hues. The composition consists of horizontal bands and blocks, creating a sense of depth and movement. The use of varied tones and textures gives the artwork a dynamic and tactile quality. The overall effect is warm and intense, drawing the viewer into the interplay of color and form.
An homage to the red rock of the Sedona desert. The water lightly flowing over the smooth edges, leaving a golden reflection against the red hues. This work is acrylic paint and sprayed texture over encaustic board.
From our inner self we look out onto the world around us. But what filters separate our inner world and out world? What might be between us and our experiencing of the beauty in our surroundings?
My Inspiration: I looked out from my studio through venetian blinds. The colors and shapes sliced into horizontal images that my mind recreated into a familiar whole. One day while contemplating, I relaxed my vision and the sharp separating lines of the blinds disappeared.
The beauty of the colors and textures still remained.
From that experience, I began the “Venetian Blinds” series. I explore the beauty that colors and textures alone expressed in these horizontal bands. Even though the images and colors are changed by our personal filters, the beauty of the essence of the moment or place is still communicated into our ‘inner room’.
