Stormy Sunrise

The Stormy Sunrise painting is an abstract representation of a horizon at sunrise. It features a striking band of bright yellow and green across the center, suggesting the sun meeting the horizon. The upper portion of the piece is filled with rich layers of deep blue, evoking the early morning sky. The lower part transitions into dark greens, reflecting a contrast with the vibrant central band. The composition captures a sense of calm and the blending of day and night. The painting expresses a sense of bright hope after a dark storm.

I was motivated to express deeper emotions and experiences in the least amount of colors and forms. The bright sunrise band is located central in the painting, expressing the balance of earth and sky. The deep green offering hope and renewal, but not yet touched by the light of dawn. 

This artwork is unique in that ...The green field's brushwork is soft and textural. Offering a soft foundation to rest. While the sky is glossy and active. The depth of the blue is accentuated by the flowing, pouring painting technique. In person it seems deep and vast due to the 16 layers of paint that eventually built up to this depth of field.

These layers mostly gloss acrylic medium with a little pigment in each, provides for the light to shine down through the layers and reflect off the white base, then back out to the viewers eyes. Catching the blue pigment repeatedly in the processes.
